Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ~Anthony J. D'Angelo, The College Blue Book
The day again is gloomy. All over the state, the rains are flooding our streets, even homes! So over the land there is no sunshine. Yet within our hearts, we are smiling, there is sunshine in our soul. This is not always easy to do with the way of the world right now. We walk out into the day with a smile of the new morning, by the time we have sat in traffic with horrible drivers, stopped by the coffee shop with the unsmiling clerk who is so harried, we are in a bad mood. We need some relief, we need just one day when there are no fires to put out, no chaos, no drama, yet there seems to be none in sight. Our best wisest spiritual tasks is to center, to balance ourselves even in the midst of the storm. We fill our lives with so much noise, so much “stuff” to do. We do this so we don’t have to think, to feel. We need all our feelings, all of our thoughts, we need to stop, sit down, take deep breaths, calm our spirit, calm our minds, to hear what our own spirit guides are saying. When we do this, the light around us shines brighter, our smile is sincere, people want to be around us. We bring our own sunshine even when it is raining on the outside.
Animal totems: Duck - we associate Ducks with the rain. We envision these cute ducks with little rubber boots, and an umbrella. Sister Duck is always connected to feminine side, the Other plane, emotions of water element. Her medicine reminds us drink deeply from the rivers of life, embracing life, . Mother duck comforts her ducklings in under her wings, from the storms.
