Sagittarius is the natural ruler of the 9th house of ideas and beliefs and this eclipse will be the last on the Sagittarius /Gemini axis. The 3rd/9th house axis relates to world view, medicine, publishing, religion, education, ideas, communication and the way we think and view the world. The ninth house also rules foreign people and places along with the legal world and the news media. (communications)
This eclipse follows the exact square of Uranus and Pluto and will be the cornerstone of change in the world and our own lives during this time. Change, revolutions and upsetting the status quo have been the theme of the time in which we currently live and we will see more of it this month. If this transit is hitting a personal planet in your natal chart, you will experience major change in whatever area this configuration is aspecting in your own chart, and the eclipse will set it off, or events will occur at this time bringing change.
As the eclipse falls on the heels of the Uranus-Pluto square situations and information will be revealed and as the eclipse squares Neptune situations and information may be cloudy. As it falls on the U-P square we are on the precipice of great change in the world and our personal lives now.
An outbreak of tornadoes devastated the city of Moore, OK, the first day the U-P square became exact, and we are at risk of additional weather related conditions that include water and earth changes or natural disasters as the U-P square is in the signs of Aries-Capricorn and Capricorn relates to the earth. We will see unusual weather conditions and wet weather.
Sagittarius is about our beliefs and perhaps it is time for changes in our thinking about many things. An eclipse in Sagittarius can cause things to become blown out of proportion. There could be difficulty with travel, writers and those who communicate through the media, or have written certain things that prove questionable. Legal issues may arise and this transit is prone to expose scandals. Religious issues may also be in the forefront. We could see issues/problems with water and drugs.
As the eclipse squares Neptune, we are prone to delusion, paranoia and unclear thinking and many situations will not seem clear or we may feel insecure. So, there will be a great deal of confusion over the next many days, and it will be hard to understand the truth. So it will be in our personal lives as well if any of these planets are aspecting a personal planet in your chart. Best not to jump to conclusions, but rather let this foggy energy pass on a societal level and in your personal life before committing to a course of action if things seem unclear now.
On the other hand it may be a beautiful time for creativity, psychic readings and endeavors and helping those less fortunate as well as all spiritual matters. It's all a matter of how you channel the energy. Now is the time to expand your ideas, creativity and personal expression in the world, but you may wait a few days to see if the same ideas are still valid in about a week.
What is a Supermoon?
Astrologer Richard Nolle coined the phrase supermoon many years ago, and supermoons are occasionally associated with natural disasters.
Nolle wrote, "SuperMoon is a word I coined in a 1979 article for Dell Publishing Company's HOROSCOPE magazine, describing a new or full moon which occurs with the Moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit. In short, Earth, Moon and Sun are all in a line, with Moon in its nearest approach to Earth. At any new or full moon, Earth and Moon and Sun are all in a line: Earth is in the middle in the full moon alignment, while the new moon happens with Moon in the middle. This coming together in an alignment is technically termed a syzygy. Sometimes - from a few times to a half-dozen times in a given year - these alignments also happen when the Moon is in its perigee, or closest approach to Earth. Astronomers call this very special alignment a perigee-syzygy. I call it a SuperMoon – which is a whole lot easier on the tongue. (My most recent print article on this subject appeared in the October-November 2007 issue of The Mountain Astrologer.)
SuperMoons are noteworthy for their close association with extreme tidal forces working in what astrologers of old used to call the sublunary world: the atmosphere, crust and oceans of our home planet - including ourselves, of course. From extreme coastal tides to severe storms to powerful earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, the entire natural world surges and spasms under the sway of the SuperMoon alignment - within three days either way of the exact syzygy, as a general rule. SuperMoon solar eclipses tend to have a wider sphere of impact, extending roughly a week before and after the actual event. And other lunar extremes (of declination, for example) can extend the geocosmic stress window by a day or two here and there in any case."
We will see full moon supermoons in 2013 on May 25, June 23 and July 22, according to Nolle. Happy stargazing.
