Let’s be honest, relationships can be frustrating when the person that we are dating refuses to be clear about what he (or she) really wants. We, of course, know our needs and expectations but we cannot determine the same from our partner. Below are a few tips to clear things up.
First, remember that he is an adult, just like you. Both of you speak English and are capable of communicating. If a man refuses to make his needs known he is doing it by choice. The same is true if a man refuses to have a true, honest conversation about the future. Thus, if you want to know how a man really feels, a refusal to communicate about important issues is a clear sign that his desires differ from yours.
Another way to sort out a man’s true desires is to analyze how he has lived his life before his partnership with you. People do not like to change their habits and patterns. For example, a man that has a pattern of failed relationships (multiple divorces or girlfriends) clearly only wants relationships that last a short period of time, regardless of what he may say. A man that is very secretive about his personal life, such as his friends or activities, clearly does not want a truly honest, open partnership.
Finally, a man’s true desires can be determined by looking at his attitude toward sex and intimacy. Does his desire to sleep with you appear to be his primary motivation? Does every date have to end up in the bedroom? Do you feel that he would walk away if you started turning him down? A man that behaves this way clearly only wants you for his own pleasure, and is not looking for partnership.
There are other ways to gain insight into a man’s wants, but these three are generally very good indicators. Remember that you are important, and if a man will not openly communicate you have the right to draw your own conclusions. You also have a right to act on those conclusions. Taking important steps for your future is what will ensure that you end up in the right relationship with the right partner.
