Independent thinking. Talking quickly, and thinking of new ideas. Also indicates flashes of intuition.
Mercury entering Aries denotes speedy communication which is idealistic and potentially combative.  Decisive interactions, flame wars and disagreements may abound with Mercury in the martial sign of Aries. 

Since Mars is still retrograde in Livra, these competitive verbal bashings may deal with previous grudges/games and/or from the past that have been going on for a while.

Issues may revolve around problems dealing with relationships, diplomacy, and competitors.  People want to discuss topics more rapidly yet on their own terms. 

In general, expect communications to be fast-paced and possibly overwhelming for some.  Take a break and some deep breaths before responding to any seemingly short/rude emails or texts.  Clarify what someone meant before reacting too quickly as people may be more prone to assume they are dealing with an argument.  With Mercury in Aries, some may tend to read emails/texts in the wrong way and think they are 'fighting words' when they really aren't. 

On a good note, this is an excellent time to defend your point of view, deal with any legal issues, relationships of all kinds and interacting with the public.    Old points of contention may arise, especially if it deals with something started before Mars went retrograde on March 1st 2014.

The urge to power and survival. The desire to fight; competitive reactions. Self-motivated reactions. Intense output of energy. Stressful muscular activity. Impulsiveness. Headstrong. Fever and temperature. Accidents and injuries.

The last time that the Sun opposed Mars was on Mar 3, 2012!   During the last aspect of Sun opp Mars authorities were dealing with the fallout of the Concordia Cruise ship disaster two months earlier.  Today authorities are investigating another major transportation disaster - Malaysian Flight MH370.  A few days ago it was announced that Chinese ships picked up a pinging sound which may or may not be the plane's black box.

During the last aspect of Sun opposite Mars a tornado touched down in Ohio, killing 22 people.

Issues related to these events and others that occurred last March 2012 may become a sore point of contention now.  This is a time when authority figures may have to deal with aggressive adversaries and warlike actions.   This is not a good time to make demands of leaders or begin debates as they may get more heated and less able to end amicably now.  Better to wait until Friday for any diplomatic ventures or peace making endeavors.

As we enter the weekend is a wonderful time for enjoying the arts, music, spiritual pursuits and spending time by water. Taking a walk by a lake or ocean could soothe the soul.   This is also a time when romance will be more idealistic and surreal than usual.  A mystical and dreamy quality to thinking can create new memories which can be enjoyed for a lifetime. You may want to escape reality for a little while and just enjoy some movie or other form of entertainment. This is not the time for dealing with finances or legal commitments but just enjoying some aesthetics. Redecorating or creating an atmosphere of comfort will go well now.  Avoiding intoxicants now is recommended as an increased sensitivity could lead to over-indulging or reacting more strongly than usual to pharmaceuticals, drugs, and alcohol.  This is a very sensitive time when reaching out and helping others is most auspicious and rewarding.
