I see this around a reading sometimes. I refer to it as “too much drama”. When I read it around a romantic issue it means I don’t want to deal with feelings. This is frustrating for the person on the receiving end of this problem.  It means if you are on the receiving end of this, then you are not getting heard or validated in the way you need. Here are some common reasons why:

  • It doesn’t mean I don’t bring my own chaos; I just don’t want to deal with yours.
  • It can mean feelings or your expressions of them affect me too deeply.
  • It can mean your feelings right or wrong make me feel responsible and I don’t want to.
  • I want a connection with romance, no trouble.
  • I don’t want to discuss where our relationship is headed.
  • I don’t communicate well, and this will demonstrate that fact.
  • You will know I don’t want a real commitment and may leave me if I tell you the truth.

These are just some of the reasons people don’t want to talk. There are as many reasons as there are people. These are just the most common I have seen. So what to do?

First off, make sure you take it in. There is a lot of denial in relationships, especially when you really want it to work out. So face it.  It gives you valuable information to make a decision whether to continue dating. Could it change, sure, it can. However you need to pay attention to the other pieces in the relationship to determine whether you want to move forward. If you need more answers call me. I am here for you.
