I’ve been going through some tough times pretty much since the beginning of 2000. It is now 2012 and I’m just now starting to feel like things are going in the right direction. It’s taken over twelve years to start feeling this way. Over twelve years!
Love, finances, career, personal relationships have all been tested, strained, changed and renewed. Some people have left my life forever and some have entered and some showed me that they would never leave. Truthfully, with the exception of the deaths which I was not ready for, I have been just as happy about the people leaving as I am about the wonderful new people that have entered my life and then so very grateful for those that never left my side.
Here’s what I attribute to the positive changes in my life, prayer, rejection and acceptance. I started an open dialog with my higher power and worked to deepen my spirituality. I allowed spirit to enter my life and trust its will. I demanded only the best and highest purpose and made sure I stuck to my side of the deal. I accepted the rejections that I was feeling as blessings instead of dwelling on why things didn’t go as I wished. I accepted the fact that sometimes getting no as an answer can be a bigger saving grace than getting a yes.
One the biggest things I’ve done is to practice acceptance. Acceptance of a bigger plan and my part in it. Acceptance that it may not happen today or when I think it absolutely needs to happen. I’ve learned to trust myself. That’s a big one for me. What gaining that trust in myself is also doing for me is allowing me to trust others.
My hope for you if you are experiencing tough times is that you are brave enough to trust in your higher power. Open that dialog. Ask instead to be shown your path instead asking for this month’s rent to be paid or for someone to like you back. Go with the “teach me to fish” mentally rather than being given a fish.
