Astrologer NYC
I am excited about our first chat for Keen!
Leslie Hale
yes, this is very exciting and I hope informative for our readers
Astrologer NYC
Let's start with what you do on Keen exactly?
Leslie Hale
I do predictive astrology, which is the study of natal and progressed charts to make predictions about future events. I also specialize in a form of astrology known as synastry, or the comparison of two peoples charts to determine if they are compatible and how they interact with one another. I can look at just about any question. And of course I like writing about events that affect the world and all of us, and occasionally get a question there. But usually its about personal situations, relationships, and of course business and they thing we all need...money.

You do a lot on Keen. So are you just an astrologer or do you also use psychic abilities?
Leslie Hale
First and foremost I am an astrologer, so the chart will always come first. Over the years I have used my intuitive abilities and sometimes when looking at the chart, and the aspects in a persons chart they start talking to me a bit. But, the chart and astrology will always be first. If it's in the chart, that is what I go with. The psychic or intuitive abilities were developed over the years when I began my spiritual journey long ago, and long before I knew I would actually be a real life astrologer.

When did you first become aware of astrology?
Leslie Hale
I first became aware of it around the age of 17 and developed a fascination. In college I actually took a course early on, but got caught up in other things, life working, etc. I was always interested and read a ;lot but began to understand how accurate it was in the early 1980's when I met my first real teacher who blew me away with her knowledge and accuracy. So, I began study in earnest in the 1980's. As we moved into the 1990's my studies escalated and I developed a small practice at home. I guess the turning point where I began to see myself as a real astrologer came when I met a TX oilman who came to me for readings in the mid 90's.
Astrologer NYC
Who was the teacher in the 80's that blew you away?
Leslie Hale
She was a woman who had practiced for 30 years or so but very quietly. Her name was Judy and she was not well known, but still the best astrologer I have ever known to this day. Then I met HER teacher and all I can say is that I have never looked back. There are many ways to learn astrology but ultimately you have to have a teacher or mentor you can interact with. I still have many teachers/mentors today--astrologers all over the world I interact with, and that will never end. Actually, every good astrologer I meet becomes a teacher in some form. Astrology is a never ending study and since I started my professional life as a journalist, that appeals to me greatly. There is always more to learn.--no matter how old you get!
Astrologer NYC
Amen to that! Many talented astrologers aren't well known!
Leslie Hale
That is so true. Not everyone wants to be in the spotlight.
Astrologer NYC
Are you uncomfortable being in the spotlight?
Leslie Hale
at times, yes, depends on the mood. My goal is to have a good business and help all the people I can, and of course write. Do I have aspirations to be famous? Not really. But, I would like to be recognized as a good astrologer who in the end contributes to the people I read for and to the actual science itself.
Astrologer NYC
Well I think you have already established yourself as an excellent astrologer!
Astrologer NYC
You have worked on Keen for a long time. What is the best thing about working on Keen in your opinion?
Leslie Hale
Well, all I can say is that I put everything I have into it
Leslie Hale
The best thing about working on Keen is the diversity of people you meet from all over the world. And I like the Keen system where the callers can remain anonymous
Astrologer NYC
Yes I agree. To be clear for people who are not familiar with Keen. Each adviser is independent and unrelated to each other.
Leslie Hale
This is true. We do not have records to look at that show what other advisors say, as I have often read. We are in no way connected with one another through the Keen system.
Astrologer NYC
What are some of the drawbacks to working on Keen in your opinion?
Leslie Hale
There are so many nice people I have met through the years and appreciate so much. Every now and then you get a caller who wants a miracle worker, rather than a reader and expects this person to fix their life for them. This is not possible. In the end, we are all responsible for our lives and choices we make Sometimes you have to deliver bad news, or information that is not what the caller is looking for. Every now and then someone takes great offense to this. There are callers who have become abusive. This is a waste of time and money for everyone. An astrologer can tell you what is in your chart, what to expect and on occasion, can point out negative situations that can be avoided. I always say my first job is to warn. Some callers are looking for a fairytale ending to an impossible situation-sometimes there can be a fairytale ending, but not all relationships are meant to work out. Sometimes they end for a reason or there is something better ahead. My first teacher used to say--'life is a schoolyard." I didn't understand it then, but I do today. If a situation looks bad, I try to jump forward in a person’s life and show them that all things in life change. A negative situation never lasts forever, unless the person is unwilling to move forward.
Some advisers will predict death. Would you tell a client if you thought they might die?
