2014 and you!

Many changes will continue to occur in the world and in our personal lives as they have since about 2008, and personal changes especially for Cancer, Capricorn, Aries and Libra. Disruptions, revolutions, changes in governments, conflicts among political parties, and financial ups and downs will continue to occur in 2014, with some of the biggest changes/challenges occurring in April 2014. Major Changes will occur personally if you were born under a cardinal sign (Cancer, Aries, Libra or Capricorn) or have personal planets in your chart at 11-17 degrees or so of a Cardinal sign.

You will have major changes this year if you were born on  the following birthdates: January 3-8, April 1-7, July 3-9, and October 4-10, or a day on either side of these dates. If you are a cardinal sign born before these dates, changes of magnitude have already begun to take place in major areas of life, and if after these dates, changes are yet to come in following years.

Many people not covered by these signs will also experience upheaval and change as the coming grand cross will aspect other planets in their charts as well. The grand cross will affect everyone's chart in some manner, and all of us as a collective.

To know what changes will occur, it is important to ascertain if this transit hits your chart and if so, in what areas!

Change will come about as a result of the grand cross involving Uranus-Pluto-Jupiter-Mars and Mercury during the above mentioned period. A grand  square is an unusual configuration that involves four signs, four planets, four houses and four areas of life that are connected together. Not only are there four squares in the Grand Cross, there are also two oppositions. Essentially, a Grand Cross consists of four planets in the same mode or quality (Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable), which form four squares and two oppositions. A Grand Cross, which this is,  includes a planetary placement in each element: Fire, Earth, Air or Water. Because the Grand Cross involves a combination of squares and oppositions, it is an aspect pattern that affects action and drive as well as perspective and balance with others.

This grand cross is uncharted territory, so to speak and may be the only time in a lifetime such a powerful transit will occur in your chart.

The Uranus-Pluto square which has occurred throughout 2012 is behind the mass upheaval/anger and change in the world and in many of our lives. This transit so far has constituted natural disasters, revolution, governmental and societal upheaval, political unrest, mass shootings and violence and change on some very basic levels in our world. In April the U-P square will be joined by Jupiter, Mars and Mercury forming a Grand Cross.

On a personal level the changes brought by this transit are of major consequence and exactly what changes occur depend on where the aspect falls in your personal chart and what it is aspecting, but can include health, family, relationships, and work-in other words, the major areas of our lives.

Cardinal signs are focused on the question of self and identity and as actions surrounding these questions depending on where it falls in your chart. The focus becomes the self (Aries), the emotional identity (Cancer), the social and intellectual identity (Libra) and the tangible manifestation of how our identity is recognized and how this will play out in the world and with others, and changes are always called for on some level.

My advice is to find out if your chart is being aspected and if it is being aspected know what areas, and take charge of your life, rather than let it take charge of you. Some things may be beyond your control, but others are within your control. If you are in an unsatisfactory job for example, it may reach a point where you must leave. Start exploring different avenues. If you are in an unsatisfactory relationship, acceptance can be your best course of action. Why would you want to spend the rest of your life with someone who does not fulfill your desires over and over again? You can explore other options in just about every area. As these transits complete sometimes change occurs for the good!

The grand cross falls directly on the Sun in the US Natal chart. The Sun represents the vital core, or the people of the country and the US President.

In 1924-25 Pluto was conjunct the Sun of the US natal chart. In 1976-78 Pluto squared the US natal Sun. But in the history of the US, there has never been an opposition by Pluto to the US Sun. An opposition is generally significant of situations that occur as a result of others, and we are at risk of facing opposition from others around the globe.

In February of 1934 a T-Square occurred involving Pluto in Cancer, Uranus in Aries, (like it is today, and Jupiter in Libra.) but it was not conjunct the US Sun. Events that occurred that month included:

1st - Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (US bank guarantor) effective
1st - International Telecommunication Union established
1st - Nazi Germany passes the "Law for the Prevention of Genetically Diseased Offspring".
15th - 8.4 earthquake in India/Nepal, 10,700 die
17th - Carl Hubbell, NL MVP winner, gets 26th - Nazi Germany & Poland sign non-attack treaty for 10 years
26th - German-Polish Non-Aggression Pact is signed.
27th - French government of Chautemps falls (Stavisky Affair)
30th - 1st theatrical presentation sponsored by US government, NYC
30th - Hitler proclamation on German unified states
31st - FDR devalues dollar in relation to gold at $35 per ounce

I do not believe this transit will represent one event but rather many during the same period. As this transit aspects the charts of so many people, much like 2008, I believe large groups of people will be involved.

Events likely to occur include changes in the financial markets, violent events, or natural disasters, and political and sociological events that will change the course of life such as the 1930's and 1960's. There is no doubt these times will be of historical significance. The last group of people born with a T-square between Uranus Pluto and Jupiter are 80-81 years of age today and lived through WW11 and the depression.

We may get an idea of what this configuration may bring toward the end of January as Pluto and Jupiter are in opposition with Uranus 3 degrees away at 9 degrees of Aries, but the aspect is only exact between Pluto and Jupiter (along with Pluto conjunct Venus)but Uranus is within orb and is and forming a T-square among the 3 major planets.

This seems to involve financial markets and Jupiter-Pluto relates to extremism and the rise of terrorism. We experienced this transit late summer 2013 and this dealt primarily with Syria and the future disarmament of chemical weapons. The Olympics occur February 6-23, and I hate to say there is danger in the world around that period of time.

There will another square between Uranus and Pluto late November-December of 2014, and this will occur again in 2015 and early 2016 before this ends. But, the Grand Cross involving Jupiter will only occur once in April.

2014 Eclipses

A lunar eclipse occurs April 15, at 25 degrees of Libra. Libra rules marriage partnerships relationships, governments, the law. Events will occur at this time involving these areas, and it is of  significance in the US chart.

A solar eclipse occurs April 29 at 8 degrees of Taurus, and this sign rules money and the material world.

Both of these eclipses will affect the events of the grand cross the same month. A solar eclipse occurred in Taurus at 19 degrees May 10, 2013, and the last eclipses in this sign occurred in 1994, so think back to that time and whether or not your remember any potent themes during that period.

Another lunar eclipse occurs September 8, at 15 degrees of Aries, as it falls on Uranus at the same degree, this will be a powerful eclipse with an impetus toward explosive situations, endings, freedom and unexpected events.

A final solar eclipse falls at October 23, at 0 degrees of Scorpio. Scorpio is the natural ruler of the 8th house which governs sex, other people's money, transformations and debt. This will prove to be a very intense eclipse similar to the April 25, 2012 eclipse and we will be concerned with issues connected to the house it represents.

Eclipses are like guideposts showing us where the general focus will be in your life for the upcoming year, and where these eclipses fall in your chart are of the most relevance.

Retrograde planets in 2014

Venus retrograde- December 21-January 31

During January, Venus is retrograde in Capricorn, going stationary direct on January 31. During this period we may focus on love that was-is connected with the past and ancient and old love, customs, families and situations. Retrograde Venus is generally associated with issues that arise in love, but in this case it can give us time to review matters, change our mind and focus on what is required to make the situation work, if at all. Venus retrogrades about once every 18 months and often coincides with the 'fate' of a relationship.

Mercury

Mercury retrogrades 3 times in 2014 in water signs. Mercury retrograde is associated with miscommunication, slow downs, lack of communication, travel/car problems, situations and things that break and in general a Mercurial mess! Best not to start anything new or buy large ticket items or get married!

Mercury retrogrades in Pisces-Aquarius February 6-28.

Cancer-Gemini June 7-July 2.

And in Scorpio-Libra October 4-25.

 Mars

Mars retrogrades in 2014, going stationary retrograde at 27 degrees of Libra on March 2-May 20, 2014. After this date it will make its final pass in Libra, remaining in the sign ruling the 7th house of marriage until July 26.

As Mars retrogradeswe will have to retrace some of our steps again and re-start or reconsider many of our options. Mars was last retrograde in the sign Virgo January 24, 2012-April 14, 2012. Mars retrogrades about once every 18 months ushering in a period of low energy, reconsideration of efforts and situations and slowdowns in projects-situations if not abandonment of situations permanently or for a time to be taken up later.

Mars in Libra is considered at its detriment which means its action can be considered negative, non-existent, misused or weakened. This may represent passive aggressive energy for some, and ideas may not go beyond the thought process, especially when the planet of action retrogrades.

Mars is ruled by Aries, and Libra is the opposite sign and this placement is not as active or action oriented as it would be in some other signs.

Libra is a people pleaser and Mars in this placement is concerned with balance, harmony, justice and avoiding unpleasantness, and some may be more focused than ever on finding or maintaining a relationship. Libra is represented by the scales of justice, and this placement concerned with justice and fairness.

Mars rules men, sex, action and conflict and wars.

Jupiter

Jupiter retrogrades every year for about 4 months and is retrograde in 2014 from the start of the year until March 6. While retrograde, the planet of gain and finance does not operate with the strength it does while direct. The stationary direct period March 6-25 is considered import if aspects something in your personal chart! Jupiter is considered exhausted in this sign-meaning its very powerful and won't return here for another 12 years.

The outer planets

Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto retrograde every year and we experience slight changes in the way we experience the world and move forward. I will list these dates on future blogs.
