My grandfather came from a family of four brothers. He had two sisters
as well, but they died young. The four brothers had longevity on their
side. They were dour Scotsmen and not much joy was revealed among
them. I have an old black and white photo of them standing together in a
churchyard, unsmiling, but strong, proud, and handsome. I’m surprised
that the camera didn’t catch one of them pulling out a cigar or spitting
into a hedge, but that is neither here nor there. At some point after
this photo was taken there was a bitter falling out about money. The
brothers parted company and never saw each other again.
One by one, they died. In 2002 the youngest brother, Bernard, passed away. On his deathbed he made a comment to my uncle. “I once told my brother Jim that the next time we were in the same room, one of us would be lying in a box.” He sighed. “That’s the way it worked out.”
How sad.
Families are complicated. I am always surprised and a little envious when I see a group of siblings that love each other and get along. That certainly is not the norm in my family nor in most, I think. But holding onto anger, resentment, and a craving for revenge only hurts you. If you are nursing a grudge against a family member for any reason right now, I can pretty much guarantee you that he or she doesn’t know and probably doesn’t care how you feel. The people who hurt us tend to go along their merry ways and never think about it again. I’m not saying it makes sense, but it is what it is.
The holidays are a joyous and magical time but they also have the potential to bring out the beast in all of us. For example, I once got so angry at my mother on Thanksgiving day that I hurled the turkey over the neighbor’s back fence. My paternal grandfather got so mad at his kids at Christmas one year that he pulled all the lights off the bushes with a rake while they were still plugged in. You get the idea. This is not normal behavior! But so understandable at this time of year.
All you need to do to call Mother Mary to your side is to say or think to yourself, “Mother Mary, help me!” She will come swiftly to your aid and she responds to all people of all faiths - or none at all. If you prefer to call on Mother Mary in a more formal way, this beautiful prayer has never been known to fail.
I hope you found this post inspiring and helpful. If you would like to have a reading with me, I will be online for calls and chats all day. Blessings!

The message from Doreen Virtue’s Mary, Queen of Angels Oracle Card deck this morning is Forgiveness.
If you’re feeling like you’re stuck in a recurring bad dream, the culprit is likely contained within stored unforgiveness. Throughout life, everyone has endured painful experiences. You’re not alone. However, you do have a choice as to whether to continue suffering from the aftereffects of those experiences. Forgiveness is the purifying, detoxifying agent that allows you to move forward in a whole new way.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you’re endorsing the negative behavior. It simply means that you’re unwilling to store the toxic burden of anger within you .. after all, your anger only hurts you, not the offending person … Call upon Mother Mary for help in releasing old emotional burdens.

Remember,
o most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who
fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your
intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly
unto you, o Virgin of Virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I
stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise
not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. AMEN
