Michael Kirk Douglas (born September 25, 1944) is an American actor and producer, primarily in movies and television. He has won four Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and two Academy Awards — as producer of 1975's Best Picture, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and as Best Actor in 1987 for his role as Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. Other performances include The Game, Wonder Boys, Traffic and Falling Down. Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009.[1] He is the eldest of actor Kirk Douglas's four sons.
2010 was a very difficult year for Michael Douglas and his second wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. On August 16, 2010 he was diagnosed with throat cancer after seeing several specialists.
Transiting Saturn had just entered Libra the month before, in July 2010. This was an important transit in his chart as both his Ascendant ruler (his body) ruled by Mars, at 18 degrees of Libra and his 7th house ruler of spouse, Venus is at 26 Libra.
On the day of his diagnosis, transiting Saturn was conjunct his Sun/Neptune and square his Moon while transiting Pluto was conjunct his Moon in his 2nd house. This showed his life/death struggles along with hospitalizations, chemicals, therapies and a complete upheaval of his home life at this time.
He began treatments which would last throughout the year as Saturn moved closer to conjoin his Mars (his Ascendant ruler = body) which was a life/death struggle and caused him to lose 32 lbs.
Not long after, his wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, began having her own health problems. His wife is shown by the ruler of his 7th, Venus in Libra, which indicates his beautiful, young wife Catherine. Venus was affected by this Saturn transit as well as transiting Uranus opposing his Sun/Neptune. In April 2011 it was revealed that she was suffering from Bipolar 2 disorder.
This was an especially difficult time for her not only because Michael was still recovering from a health crisis, but she had not intended to be public with her own struggles. Uranus opposing his Sun/Neptune caused a surprise for them when the tabloids began reporting all about Catherine checking into a hospital for treatment.
His troubles with Saturn transiting his Mars and Venus, was compounded by Saturn traveling through his 12th house of hospitalization, solitude and suffering.
Saturn finally left Libra and entered Scorpio in October 2012. It appeared as if the storm had passed and things were calming down for them.
Unfortunately it appears that his troubles are not all over yet, as Saturn is approaching his Ascendant at 15 Scorpio. Transiting Saturn will hit his Ascendant in mid-November of this year. Around this time, transiting Pluto is opposing his natal Saturn as transiting Uranus squares Pluto/Saturn causing a high tension T-square in early November 2013. This can cause shocking, sudden or unexpected problems, power struggles and separation in business and/or marriage.
Today in the news it is being reported that Michael and Catherine have been living separately. As Saturn crosses his Ascendant this November, it can either solidify their union or they may make a formal announcement regarding their separation.
Michael will also have to continue being careful with his health as Saturn passes through his first house throughout the next year.
