My information on Scrying comes from James Kambos and the Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2005. and of course J.K. Rowling. I admit I have a lot to learn but I found these resources invaluable.
Before crystal or glass balls appeared; highly polished dark-colored stones may have been used. Mirrors have also been associated with scrying for centuries. Any surface or object used for scrying is called a speculum. You must allow your instincts to be your guide and become intimate with what object you choose. Do not let anyone else handle it.
I experienced many failures with mirrors. Finally, I selected a dark colored glass purchased at a church rummage sale.
I sat in my circle protected from unwanted and evil spirits holding this glass in both hands turning it slowly. My eyes blinked normally and I felt very peaceful. Then I saw it! The image. I couldn't believe it. The Sun Tarot Card picture from the Rider-Waite deck. Plain as could be. I kept starring there was no mistake. What does the Sun Card mean to me? It means success and fulfillment of my goals. What a wonderful message to receive from my first successful scrying. I am eager to try again.![]()
