Many of us have been taught to believe that there is one person we are "meant" to be with, as if being with that person will prevent us from having to experience the emotional pain that accompanies love and personal growth. Here, I have to say that just as in life, there are no free passes in love. We all have to do our work!
By "our work" I mean the personal work, the karmic work that we came here as souls to complete and sometimes to begin.
It is very seductive to assume that the problems we experience in our relationships are caused by others. Oftentimes we tell ourselves that "if he/she were this way or that, then our relationship would be better."
Nothing could be further from the truth! No free passes, remember?
The truth is that we attract partners who are here to work on similar issues as ourselves; we are all here to transform unwanted karma or blockages that prevent self-growth and personal transformation. Just like the friends we choose, the love partners we choose provide us with a mirror of who we are and who we are not - they provide us with a mirror of what we like, or what we do not like about ourselves.
So, if you are experiencing problems in your relationships, rather than focus on the other person's faults, try to go inward and focus on yourself; the answers to your frustration and pain are located within, not without. For example, instead of asking when a mate will change his/her hurtful behavior, ask yourself why you are allowing someone to mistreat you? Try to examine the lesson you are to learn about yourself from the way you are allowing this mistreatment. Also, ask yourself if there is a lesson you must learn about yourself from the people you have chosen to be in your close circle.
There are no free passes! Our pain and our frustration are always about ourselves and the work we must do to transform. Self-analysis gives us the means to learn about who we truly are, and self-knowledge is power! Trust me! If, as many of us say, we truly desire happiness and harmony in our lives and in our relationships, then we will be open to analyzing the barriers that prevent us from attaining these things.
Today I challenge you to go inward for answers to any frustration you may be experiencing in love and personal relationships. Just for a day. Let me know what you think! I hope to hear your responses.
In light and with every good wish to you,
Michelle
