What do Busy Dreams Mean?

Isn’t it great when you wakeup with that wonderful feeling that only a truly pleasant dream leaves you with? You feel rested and refreshed, ready to conquer the world, or at least whatever the day has to throw at you. Unfortunately, the exact opposite is true when you wakeup with an icky or heavy feeling from an unpleasant busy dream. I’m not talking about night-mares or night-terrors. I’m talking about the dreams that have you looking for some item all night long, climbing stairs, or dealing with people you have never met before in real life, but seem to be well known by you in dreamland. You wake up exhausted no matter how many hours you slept, and it takes almost the entire day to get the feeling to go away. I call these busy dreams. They are not fun and often times are recurring. I have one recurring dream that I hate the most: I spend the entire night going from office to office and up and down stairs through an empty high-rise office building searching for, of all things, the Ladies Room. Why do we have those dreams anyway? What purpose do they serve? I know from personal experience that they are not prophetic of some impending disaster. I have yet to have my recurring dream and then later in life actually spend hours roaming an empty building looking for the facilities. These dreams are not prophetic; they are indicative of frustration, problem solving, and a search for answers or resolutions. Looking closely at the symbols in these dreams can reveal what needs to be done or at the least, what is needed to calm down. What in the world does searching for the bathrooms in an office building symbolize for me? Well, when this dream shows up for me, I’m usually grappling with a problem that should not be that difficult to solve, but for some reason it has become quite complex for me. Bathrooms are pretty usual things in life - we all need them at some point. And, finding one is usually not that difficult if we just look for the signs that point the way.. I now know that when this dream shows up, I need to quit spinning my wheels, calm down, and focus on finding the right direction (or signs) for solving the problem.
