Organic Prayer

May every seed I sow grow in a good way. When did material become more important than Spirit and Mankind?

It has been said in many ways, many times, by many people better than I, put God first. Today people all over the world, many for the first time, are putting God first. A number of people are doing this in a religious context; while others, with just a simple act of Spirit consciousness, are seeking deeper meaning in their lives, and it's happening worldwide. Why the resurgence of spirituality? It seems people from many cultures and walks of life are seeking new, deeper meaning to their lives and daily endeavors.   One could blame it on the economy, wars around the world, government and politics or perhaps it is much deeper than material interest. Could people be evolving into a new way to see themselves and the world around them in a Godly way? That could be, let’s examine the notion of putting God or Spirit first and see where it leads us.

More than any time in recorded history people all over the world are, in fact, seeking deeper meaning to their lives. Reports of increased interest in the Bible, the Koran, the Kabala, the Bhagavad Gita and Native Cultures have expanded by millions of people coming to God or their personal Creator for answers, heretofore not quenched by a material life. Is it merely superstition, or something more? Many new devotees to “Spiritually” will tell you it is faith, others claim knowingness.  One thing is for sure—people who have come to seek inner wisdom have become disillusioned with the material concepts of perfection which are apparently crumbing all around the world.

All one needs to do is listen to the news, read a paper or pay some attention the “official” word about the economy and New World Order policies, and one can become quite depressed rather easily. Is this reason enough to go out and seek a Guru? Perhaps, perhaps not—let’s have a look.  What is interesting is that, among new seekers looking for a better way, many have come to the conclusion-“do it in a good way.”

Evidence of a changing world is all around us—prodded along by the World Bank and IMF (International Monetary Fund). People’s lives have certainly changed. Follow the money—where ever it went unrest, coups, and people starving have followed, backed by the most influential people in the world (money wise that is!  The old ways are falling apart and quickly-hence people everywhere are searching for something better. A new way, as my mentor and adopted father Leonard J. Mountain Chief would constantly remind me, “a change has got to come, sooner better than later.”

Is there a better way somewhere out there or, better asked, in here? Out there implies someone doing it for us. Spirituality starts, ends, and takes effect  from, the inside, not the outside. But what are the choices? Succumb to a crumbling world or succeed it with a new better way. Is a world without greed, evil, control, hate, fear, anger and war possible? Perhaps the answer is already inside you. Millions of people with hope of creating a whole new better way are turning to God or Goddess, whichever their preference is, and looking deeply at the aspects of love and a loving world. God knows it’s about time! But where is the unity in such concepts? Ask a Christian; and they will tell you they have it all figured out. Ask a Jewish person and he will tell you the same thing. Hindus, Buddhist, Muslims, Natives, Behies and Scientologist alike—all claim to have the answers to all of mankind’s dilemmas. Even though the common denominator is Spirit—there seems to be a bit of strife and trivial arguing going on here.  So what does God have in mind for us, enlightenment or end times?

I think an adequate question could be—where does God or Spirit play into mankind’s final outcome? By our will or his/hers, just where are we headed? Ask a Hopi Shaman and he or she will suggest we live a simple life, a life of self sufficiency and in a good way. A life where everyone in the community plants seeds-speaking kind loving words to our plants (edible of course) and this is sufficient to saving the world from annihilation. Add in a dash of ceremonial celebrations and we are all done. Ask the Delhi Lama and he might reply, we are in for thousands of years of suffering based up our unwillingness to surrender and achieve enlightenment—freedom from material attachments. Where is the truth? It lies somewhere in the middle, I imagine.

But, this writer does believe in change in a positive way—in a good way for all of mankind. Doing good works, speaking in a kind loving way to our neighbors’ as we would a child or a favorite pet or our vegetables. Positive living certainly can help change the world for the better. I think a good question to ask ourselves is; when did material become more important than Spirit and mankind? How can we spend $200.00 to save a cherished antique and let a child go hungry? Where is God in this? If man/womankind can return to a sense of commonwealth and a worldwide community we can overcome greed, fear and ignorance and return to where God wants us to be—in his house-- in love.

Paramahansa Yoganada teaches us, “There is no higher power than the love of God and through Self Realization we enter in to that bond of pure love.”

It comes to us from teachers of Christ consciousness that there is but one God, and God loves us no matter what. We are asked to share that love wherever we go, then, once we reach the full unfolding of the soul we are welcome to the pearly gates of Heaven. Heaven somewhere in the deep recesses of our imaginations, or heaven on Earth? You decide. What should be obvious to us all is that walking in a good way, in love, peace and joy, is heaven. Love is that thing that helps create miracles in our lives, simple miracles that often go unnoticed and appreciated.

Just as a final note for the future—our children. There is a worldwide community being created in Copenhagen to help foster love, wisdom, caring and sharing. Its title is A Gifting Society. The group interested in this development has no Religious or Governmental ties, they merely see a need for change that can benefit man/womankind globally—in a Godly way.
