Today we are dealing with so much conflicting energy and the majority of us paying attention are born in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. These are distinct energies that are mixing and colliding. We hold on to the wholesome, and try to forget the rest.
Words and their connotations are changing. What was appalling before is “hip” today.
Twenty-seven years ago Paula Deen used the “n” word. Okay. And today, this is under amazing ridicule. Perhaps, spiritually, she needed to be reminded of an unkindness. Has she said this under her breath since? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
My concern with this is that we’re not taking into account “when you know better, you do better”. Nor is what is being taken into account is the difference in the decades, the energies, the mindset...the general atmosphere. This is not an excuse...but a statement of fact.
We are more aware today. We are less inclined toward understanding in same ways too. We are better and we are worse. The words of one woman should not be rocking us in any way, in my view.
Bigotry, racism and discrimination are problems that will continue to war until resolved. Anger and hurt are real emotions that cripple. This must be overcome. That said, persecuting someone, anyone for a brief moment two and a half decades ago strikes me as a bit much.
There was an energy, specific to her, that drove this to her. Perhaps a reminder to do better, I would like to think. Persecuting her over it...I do not agree with at all. Smearing her? Isn’t that the argument against her? So now you do onto another what you would not want done onto you. Right? Look in the mirror...look at your thoughts. Look at your angry words spoken in heat. Did you really mean it? Cast no stones unless you are pure. And if you’re in human form...you’re not pure.
Everyone has suffered. Everyone has hurt and been hurt. We have all been good and bad. As we get older, we learn how to choose who and which we are. Focusing on one person is silly...there are millions of us. The best decisions are the present decisions. Choose who you are. Are you rocked by someone’s word spoken 2 1/2 decades ago? If so...why? That’s what is to be examined. She leads her own path. What about yours?
