Oye. How do I even begin?
This is a VERY hot topic for me. What is? Well I suppose that I should start by defining Psychic surfing for you so that you can understand better.
A Psychic surfer is one who goes to reader and reader, usually when they are frenetic about something, getting read after read. Sometimes this person will speak to as many as 10 readers in a single day!
Why does this bother me?
Where do I start?
As someone who considers herself to be one of the most honest readers its very frustrating when I have to re-do what another reader has done. Unfortunately there are many who will tell clients ANYTHING they want to hear in return for their continued patronage and glowing rating. I'm not one of these people. I will tell you with out hesitation what I see, as it is, without rounding the edges of my language. This is not to brutalize, rather to empower. Since NO ONE can make informed and healthy decisions based upon lies it does no one any good to hear anything but the truth, even if its a hard truth to take.
Sometimes a client start with a reading and are told something undesirable. Then they travel on to another reader in hopes of hearing something different (many will claim its to "confirm" what the other said). This pattern continues as they hunger for more information, to hear what they wish to hear and to get some sort of validation that things are not as hopeless as they seem.
Since some clients and readers alike will only place emphasis on dolling out predictions things like empowerment and guiding a client fall by the wayside, thus some clients go to reader after reader after reader looking for what should have been provided by the first.
So what am I to do? I try to help them see the truth, especially if other readers have blatantly lied (or so I suspect!) to them and empower them with prediction and guidance on what to do next. Since readers such as myself are in the minority I end up having to defend what I see. I am hit with a barrage of "well this reader said...." which makes my palms sweat! I would advise, NEVER to go into a reading saying that as it should be understood that another persons read has no bearing upon the read you are about to receive. Typically when I hear this I know that this person is either 1) a Psychic surfer or 2) only looking to have me confirm another readers reading, which I wont do, lest of course their prediction is accurate.
Why do people become Psychic junkies? Well I'm sure the reasons vary but typically they are hungry for information. They are in the throws of some sort of devastation and need insight. They look for those within their price range and just start going down the line. Sometimes they get all they need right away and thus they do not feel the need to look further but typically they will go to one reader after another in their quest for information and to also get certain things confirmed or denied.
As a readers we have to watch out. If you happen to be honest and tell a client that unfortunately what they were told previously is not true (and since you don't know whether it was and freewill just happened to shift you NEVER accuse the previous reader of lying directly) you do risk a potentially scathing rating. While that doesn't personally bother me it can be quite troublesome to someones business.
I would always recommend to a client who finds themselves in this situation....DO NOT rate a reader based upon how their read matched to another (or sometimes SEVERAL others) rather rate on the reading you received. Did they know what they were talking about? Did they give you proper background and insight on the personalities involved? Was it just that their read happened to counter another you received or were they generally off across the board? Be mindful of how you are rating and why. If they were horrible, they were horrible, fine. But if you are rating poorly because you didn't like what you heard and/or it didn't match what another reader told you then tisk tisk!
If you find yourself, as a reader, on the receiving end of someone like this, be patient. Chances are they need your guidance now more than ever! Try to help them see what is really going on around them since the truth typically is always available to us if we choose to see it. Be patient if suddenly you are hit with "but this reader said....." and explain that another readers predictions have nothing to do with your reading and that you would love the chance to clear some things up if they are willing to listen and be guided properly.
If you are a client, stuck in the throws of emotion and find yourself going from reader to reader, STOP!!! Not only do you take the chance of receiving a reading from someone less experienced with reading energy and thus an inaccurate reading but you also are going to spend TEN TIMESTHE MONEY that you could just pool together to see a more experienced Psychic and receive a reading which is accurate, empowering and that allows for your evolution.
Emotion gets the best of us. I cannot imagine that there is anyone out there who has never found themselves in the bell jar over one thing or another at some point in their life. That is why many of us are doing the work that we do; because we desire to help those who feel lost and upset. But there is such a thing as too much of a good thing (and in some cases too much of a bad thing). I advise clients to find 1-3 TRUSTED readers that they see regularly. Make sure that they are experienced so that you are not getting a reading based on their reading another Psychics energy (and thus their read). Build a relationship with these readers as it helps to aid the flow of energy between you and thus results in a more in depth and accurate reading. Its fine to try someone else who catches your eye here and there (especially if you find that your regular reader is not connecting with you as he/she once did) but do not make this a habit, especially one you make when in the depths of emotional madness.
We all want to help, even those who may not have a Psychic bone in their bodies. Sometimes we have to be a bit more discerning and less interested in hearing only what we want to hear. If that was all we were told how on Earth would be make informed decisions? We would all be stuck in outdated situations which no longer fit us. Truth, even when it hurts, is the greatest tool to have in our arsenal. It can mean the difference between months of frenetically holding on to a situation and healing and moving forward to the next great thing!
