Today is the birthday of an infamous person, Ira Einhorn, so I thought it might be interesting to take a look at his chart.

Ira Samuel Einhorn (born May 15, 1940), known as "the Unicorn Killer", is an American convicted murderer and former environmental advocate. Einhorn beat his ex-girlfriend, Holly Maddux, to death and then stored her body in a locked trunk in his apartment for more than a year — about 18 months — before she was discovered by the police. He fled to Europe and was convicted 25 years later for her murder in 2002 and is serving a life sentence. -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ira_Einhorn

Bio and Rated "A" birthdata: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Einhorn,_Ira

Ira Einhorn was a larger than life figure.  Large physically and in reputation.  He rose in status very easily and became known as a guru in the late 60's early 70's.  He used LSD, active in environmental causes, and was known to be violent in relationships.  The death of one of his ex-girlfriends resulted in his becoming a fugitive and living overseas for many years until finally facing justice at home.  He is ending his life in prison where he now resides.

I will start by analyzing the Ascendant.  The point in the chart where life begins and is considered the most important influence throughout the native's life.  An accurate birth time is needed to ascertain the Ascendant.  Ira has Libra, the sign of relationships, justice, and dealings with the public.  Libra rising means that relationships would be a very important influence in his life.  He was very popular due to his Libra Ascendant as this sign gives a person charm and charisma.  Libra is also a cardinal sign, which means that he would strive to achieve goals in life.  Cardinal signs don't settle for the status quo like fixed sign or adapt to changes in life like mutable signs.  He wanted to accomplish things, start movements and obtain his goals.  How successful he would be, depends upon the rest of the chart.

Venus rules his first house and is placed up high in the chart, in the 10th house.  This is called a "king-maker" position. This shows that he would easily rise in life to high positions.  He would be readily accepted and respected by others.  Venus in Cancer shows that family, country and food were very important to him.  He would also be very charming with the women.  He was known as the "peace and love" guru.

"The fat man with the unkempt beard, the King of the Radicals, the Prince of Flower Power, the Guru of Peace and Love."

All of his planets above the horizon shows that he lived his life in a public way.  He was popular and shared his life with everyone around him.  Cancer on his MC meant that working with the public was his destiny.  He was very popular and knew what people wanted.  With Venus, planet of love, ruling his Ascendant, in the nurturing sign of Cancer and being highly elevated in his chart - he was known for peace and love in a counterculture group.  His Mercury and Sun conjoined Uranus meant that he would not lead in a normal, conventional way but that he would have a radical approach and could be ingenious at times, especially with the planets resources (Sun, Mercury, Uranus in Taurus in the 8th house).   He claimed to have originally thought of the concept of having an Earth Day.  He also studied astrology.

Planets in angular houses are the most powerful influences in a person's life.  Ira has three planets in angular houses, Venus, Pluto and Mars.  (Mars is read in the 10th.)  This emphasizes the love-making and passionate nature that he had.  Pluto made him a powerful figure of the times.  Mars rules his 7th house of public, partners, open enemies and litigation.  Mars is placed on the MC and forms an out of sign conjunction to his Venus.  This indicates that these 7th house affairs would be the most prominent influences in his life.  Mars in Gemini would make him mentally aggressive and argumentative in relationships with others.  With Aries on his 7th house cusp, Ira was known to become violent in relationships.

Prosecutors described Mr. Einhorn as a loutish womanizer and serial abuser who turned violent whenever a woman wanted to leave him. When he testified, they had him read poems and diary entries in which he wrote: ''to kill what you love when you can't have it seems so natural'' and ''violence always marks the end of a relationship.'' http://www.nytimes.com/2002/10/18/us/ex-fugitive-convicted-in-25-year-old-murder.html?ref=iraeinhorn

Holly Maddux
His problems in relationships could also stem from his Taurus Sun which would make him possessive of others and his Moon in Virgo, which could make him very critical.  Ira may have been seen as a big love guru to the public, but scratch beneath the surface and a different person is revealed with the emphasis of earth signs.  He was very concerned with ecological issues but he also needed material security.  Money and his possessions would have been extremely important to him.

Venus placed in the 10th in Cancer, ruled by the Moon in the 12th house of imprisonment, self-undoing and fugitives shows that early in life, he would rise to a high position but that later in life he could end up incarcerated.  His Moon is ruled by Mercury in the 8th house of death along with Venus ruling the partner's house of death (2nd H) indicates that death of his partner be the reason for his downfall.   The Moon trine Saturn, natural ruler of death, in his 8th house shows that he may end his life in prison (Saturn rules his 4th house of end of life).

Ira had many prominent, highly educated, and foreign friends.  This is shown by the 11th house ruled by the Sun (natural ruler of prominent people) and placed in the 9th house of foreign lands and higher education.  He had no problems finding places to stay in Ireland and Europe when he lived as a fugitive to escape prison for the murder of his girlfriend.  He never had a problem finding relationships and lived with a wealthy woman in France.  Venus conjunct Mars rulers of 1,7 made is easy for him to find partners.

Ira Einhorn's life is known for being a popular, counterculture love guru who murdered his girlfriend and spent the later part of his life as a fugitive and now a prisoner.  His Libra Ascendant, Venus (r-1,2) conjoined Mars (r 7,8) on his MC, Sun/Mercury/Uranus conjunctions along with planets in the 8th and 12th houses clearly shows how his life unfolded as it did.

Mr. Einhorn, who had described himself as a ''planetary enzyme'' and a ''catalyst for change,'' told jurors he had a ''Virgo moon.''

Lynne Abraham, the Philadelphia district attorney, whose office pursued Mr. Einhorn for years, said, ''Metaphorically speaking, Ira Einhorn and his Virgo moon are toast.''http://www.nytimes.com/2002/10/18/us/ex-fugitive-convicted-in-25-year-old-murder.html?ref=iraeinhorn
