You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along. Eleanor Roosevelt
Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu
The nightmare continues every day. The very thing we fear the most has come to look us right in the face, be there right staring in our eyes. We are at a turning point. We can give up, turn run for the hills, to hide, but still there is the demon of fear lingering around the deep recesses of our mind. This little imp taps us on the shoulder, reminding us of all the stupid things we did, all the hurtful things, how we messed up, time after time. Surely this little devil of fear tells us we can see how we don’t deserve to reach our dreams, accomplish our goals, WE messed up time again, no one agrees with us, we are reminded that “they” are so much smarter, did things exactly right every time! Stand back. Truly look at everything from all sides. Become as Brother Eagle, Brother Owl, brother Hawk, with eyes that see far beyond the surface where the heart lies. Be kind. Be loving. Put our minds in the thoughts of being kind, being positive no matter how much doing so lays open our heart for others to stomp on, even though many others will think we have lost our minds. When we try with all our hearts to do anything toward our dream, with love, with pure knowledge we are listening to spirit, we gain strength, we gain courage, we pass over the top of the highest mountain to reach the other side.
Owl: Brother Owl has no cartilage in his neck. This allows him to turn him head around all the way. This helps with his vision to see bugs, insects, small animals hidden. His medicine is one of wisdom as he teaches us to look beyond the surface, under the leaves, the dirt, the grass, to find his dream, what he is looking for. His totem reminds us that there is often things we don’t outright “see” which is why we head toward the visionary, the intuitive, to help us see. Owl is also one of the oldest totems of magick. Ancient wisdom comes from him. This is why in J.D. Rowlings books, Harry Potter had an owl for the familiar. ( © 2001 Harry Potter series) . Beautiful, quiet, the Owl only screeches when he really has to warn for danger. He screeches right before grabbing his prey, warning the small animals as his idea is to survive, not hurt, or destroy. This is our lesson from him. Kindness even when fighting to achieve our dreams.
