Whether we know it or not, the animal and nature spirits are working around us and with us everyday, influencing the world around us. It is said by many animist people (the traditional belief system of those that work with shamans the intermediaries between the world of spirit and humans) that the animal people are the great powers of the world, and indeed if we look at history before there where gods and great pantheons of deities there where just the animals. We learned all we needed to from the animals and in spirit we knew at one time how to speak with them, and we knew that we had allies or animals that worked with us. These animals are our totems, they are our guides and allies and they also represent aspects of our personality and our personal and spiritual growth.
