You have been on Keen a while but took a long break, and now you have been back for a while?

Yes, I started on Keen in 2002 but left soon after to pursue other things. I stayed active in astrology,  teaching, publishing astrology articles, writing on my other website, and doing private readings.  I returned to Keen in 2011 and am back for good!

What type of astrology do you practice?

Astrologer NYC

I mainly do Horary and Vedic astrology on Keen as that is what the clients have wanted. I also do some Tarot.

Leslie Hale

A lot of readers probably don't know what Horary astrology is. Can you explain it a bit?

Astrologer NYC

I wrote a blog about it, explaining what it is read here. It is answering questions using the chart of the time of the question.

And what about Vedic astrology. What exactly is that?

Vedic is Indian astrology which I have also studied for many years.

Leslie Hale

I have a lot of respect for Indian astrologers! They sometimes have a bit of a different perspective. What led you into this type of astrology?

Astrologer NYC

I blame it on my Libra Moon. I just HAD to know what those Indian astrologers were talking about!

I need both sides of the story in astrology - east and west.

So, what started your journey into astrology to begin with?

Astrologer NYC

I became immersed into astrology after seeing my natal chart in the late 80s and took off from there.  Taking classes, attending conferences, reading books. Like you say sleep, eat and breath astrology!

absolutely!  So, can you explain in a nutshell-if possible-how Eastern astrology differs from Western?

Astrologer NYC

It is an entirely different system.  Eastern is based on the sidereal zodiac.  The chart is different and read differently with added things.  For example, in the west, the Sun is emphasized while in Indian astrology the Moon (Chandra) is more important.

But, I hve found that often the conclusion is the same. Perhaps just a different spin?

Yes exactly. 

Leslie Hale

Lets say a client calls you with a question. You will create a horary chart that can give a yes or no answer?

Astrologer NYC

Usually yes.

Astrologer NYC

Sometimes there are strictures which means the chart should not  be read.  So then I'll answer with the caveat that it may be wrong so then I'll give a free follow up reading

This doesn't happen often

What would cause a chart that cannot be read? Any particular set of circumstances?

If an early or late degree rises.

Leslie Hale

And you are a tarot reader as well? What led to this?

Astrologer NYC

I took classes in Tarot too.  I don't do it as much as astrology but a little

What do you like about tarot?

For me, it's interesting to see what develops, I am as surprised by the answer as the client.

I see you publish a lot on Keen. And you have written e books?

Astrologer NYC

Yes I love to write and have been published many times.   I did a small ebook on Amanda Knox that I am currently adding to and will offer again later.
