Card: 4The Empress is the most prominent card to appear when a pregnancy, or birth is foretold. Many times this is a physical being that takes on a life of its own but she also heralds creative birth, and intense, awe-inspiring muses manifesting in your life. Fertility, good health, joy and power within the female are what this card is all about. A mother, a wife, a lover think of all three when you think of this card. If you're suddenly inspired, or were previously then viewing this card as a Universal Mother will be likely. The Empress is the card and Goddess of fertility-of the body, mind, soul & heart.

The Empress in the past position tells us you've likely had a creative out pouring as you've been so inspired that you had to create in order to express yourself completely. It can also indicate that you've recently had a birth, found out you were pregnant, or took on a maternal role (even if you're a man you can still be maternal).
In the present position the Empress tells us first in foremost, male or female you're fertile-literally and metaphorically. Creating a person is just as likely as creating something that's comparable to Michelangelo' sixteenth chapel. Consequently because of this people trying to procreate or to express themselves creatively for fulfillment will be particularly happy with this card in the present position.
In the future position the Empress indicates that which she encompasses in the past and present, a creation which you can be proud of, or an effort put in by you that's maternal. When the Empress is paired with the Three of Swords, she indicates an affair causing a pregnancy, or if the person getting the reading is pregnant and in a committed relationship it often indicates that their spouse or partner is being unfaithful to them. When the Nine of Swords and the Empress are next to each other it means that a pregnancy, or the potential of one, or the birth of a child has led to the person getting the reading (or the person the readings about) feeling mentally plagued about the pregnancy or child.
