Card: I
The Magician is the second card of the Tarot. The meaning of this card varies significantly based upon his position and the surrounding cards in a reading. The good aspects and interpretation of this card are quiet literal to it's title-The Magician. Being confidant and determined in achieving our objectives is the most positive aspect of this card, so too is extremely persuasive forms of communication on your end, for instance an increase in your diplomatic skills. A newly acquired skill, or a talent that's just manifested are also some perks to this card. In the the negative light if this card pairs with a court card, or some male figure of the major arcana it can (not always) represent deception, of the "smooth talking"/bad boy variety. I frequently see this card paired up with the 8 of Swords and a Knight or King card when a male, romantic figure is being deceptive to the person asking me questions.

I also frequently pull this card with the Two of Cups and the Page of Cups right before a "proposal" is made. <3

The Magician often times appears in readings where the person in question lacks that ability, or rather "desire" to commit to the person asking questions. Often times this card appears when reading about mysterious men that appear mischievous due to their actions, or lack of actions.

Keywords associated with the Magician:

*Smooth talking
*Persuasive Speaking
*Diplomacy
*Persistence
*Confidence
*Ambition
*Covert/sneaky/manipulative Communication (based on other cards around it)

When the Magician is in the past position, its always a good thing, it means your smart thinking, and witty quips lead to your present. (Which depends on the card that's been pulled-for instance 10 of Cups-would mean you got yourself into a happy, loving place in the present by the use of your sharp intelligence and smart "diction"/paired with the the 3 of Swords and the Hermit suggest that your words/or possibly a confrontation (if the Tower is also present) led to the separation, likely you finding out about an "affair" via some form of "secret" communication and confronting it.

In the Present this card tells us that you needn't worry, that you need to "sleep" on the problem you're facing, because ultimately you have just what it takes to overcome the "problem". It's locked in your own internal chambers of brilliance & will appear to you in the "shortest" of notice, i.e.-when you need to know what to say or do you will, suddenly.

In the future depending on surrounding cards this card often times indicates that you're going to pursue a dream you've had, or an idea, a new one. OR it can also mean that you're sharp intellect will be necessary in overcoming the obstacles that are shortly coming to try and thwart you from your aim, the good news is the Magician almost always means that you'll be successful, even though you "doubt" it.

Regardless of where the Magician lands, or the surrounding cards the Magician always tells us that a form of "communication" will lead to a big "thing"-what that "thing" is depends totally on the surrounding cards.

The yes/no interpretation of this card is almost always yes (again, pull a 2nd card for confirmation, it works).
