If you are going through hell, keep going.” ― Winston Churchill
“What is hell? I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
The last month has been really rough for most of us here in the States. Cold, Cold, weather, snow, ice, traffic, both air, automobile has had us stopped in our tracks. Even emotions, others around us, seem to let the cold enter into the inner being, reaching the soul where we keep seeking warmth, heat, a way out of the hell we have been living. We want to stop. We want to quit. We want to quit feeling beat up, every day, yes, every day, putting out yet another fire, hitting another crisis, yet again another chaos, yes another hell. There are some schools of thought that there is no hell after death, as death is a reward, but that we just keep coming back here to this plane, this spiritual soul reliving over, over again until we reach nirvana or perfect right. So we get up every day, we do all the right rituals, the prayers, the giving thanks for our day, while inside we keep dying just a little more. We seek answers from every portal, every faith system, every walk of life, but never seem to get the relief, the answers we are seeking. Our questions are always why we are going through the battles. Once years ago, I asked a very wise man, my mentor, why. His calm almost cocky response was ,” Why Not” . See, his belief is that those of us in the light are trusted to keep trying to do the right thing. That we, through heartaches, through the battles, learn more how to battle the next one, to actually help others to the light as well. Fair? Oh no. Good, oh yes. Do we havr to be perfect? Oh no. Jacob, later called the Father of Isreal, stole, yes he stole his older brother’s birthright. So he ran, for his very life as Esau was going to kill him. As he ran away into the night, soon his travels wore him out. During the night, the angel visited him to give him a message. Jacob grabbed hold of the angel, said bless me, and held on. He actually battled the angel, winning his blessing. This Judaism history shows us that every day we battle to achieve our blessings. We just need to hold on.
