Men and shoes. Shoes and men. Women and shoes. Shoes are not like food. Men are not like food. We don't need either to live but we really want them in our lives. Doesn't matter if we have one pair of shoes or hundreds. We love our shoes and we love our men but we don't always pick the right ones for us.
We'll put up with a pair of shoes that pinch and give us blisters just because we like the way they look. We'll just slap a band aid on once we take them off. How many times has a guy you thought you really liked made you cry? He calls and we forget about what he did that was so awful. We're content enough to slap on a band aid and try again just because we love him even though we know another blister will result.
We'll wear a shoe that is too big or too small because we just have to have them. The fact that the shoe doesn't fit doesn't matter as long as we have what we want. How many times have you stuck with a guy that always brings too little love and too much drama to the table just because you love him so much? We need to find what is just right for us and not settle for something that isn't in our size. There will be other shoes just like there will be other men.
We'll wear a pair of shoes that are just plain uncomfortable. The whole time we have them on we never quite find our center because we're so focused on trying to find comfort in a shoe that never will give that to us. How many times have you found yourself with a man that keeps you from being yourself? No matter what you never relax enough to show yourself to him? He sees an outer shell that is never what you are inside and that's what a good looking uncomfortable shoe is.
Mary Janes. Mary Janes! Love 'em! Flat ones, heeled ones, platform, wedge, Dr. Martens, low straps, high straps, black, white, red. You name it I probably have them. What about you? I think they bring us back to a simpler time when we had so little to worry about and Prince Charming was still ahead in our future.
Well...that's enough on shoes for a while. I'll be back with more shoe stories.
