Many people suffer health ailments they're not even consciously aware, some of us grow so used to being sleep deprived that we fail to notice when we're at the brink of exhaustion.
Others have gotten so used to their bodies ailments that they simply over look them, for instance those of you with back problems, are happy when your back isn't KILLING you, but rarely actually do NOT feel the pain of it, as it's often times there. There are even more people suffering from substantial physical pains, like disease and illness at a severe level.
Those of us that have encountered rather severe health scares are OFTEN ALL TO AWARE of how hit or MISS the doctors and pharmaceutical aides can be, especially when they can't come to a diagnosis!
I've had experiences where I've been given medication from a doctor that "fixed" me and then I got hit with the side effects, which are worse than the problem to begin with!
I have a low tolerance for things, for instance if I have one full glass of wine I will be "buzzed," give me two glasses and I'm drunk, medication effects me the same way. Because of this the side effects are without a doubt extreme in most instances.
I've done a lot of research on herbal aides over the years after meeting a friend who's passion for tea was on par with Howards Schultz passion for coffee. His insistence that I try his unique "herbal" blends was SOME of the BEST advice I've EVER taken.
Here are some herbs and teas that I have taken and the reason I have taken them and what the results were FOR ME, again, this is NOT MEDICAL advice, it's personal advice based upon my OWN experience.
Consult with YOUR DOCTOR before trying anything I have tried below.
Ailment: Stressed/Anxious
Reliefs that WORK for ME and brief review:
Passion Flower Tea
Origin: Latin America
Availability: ANY major chain grocery store
Review: This is the EASIEST tea to get, this tea doesn't taste terrible but after 2-3 glasses you feel...well, like you're drinking flowers, the stress will be gone, the anxiety too if you finish 3 glasses. Don't drink this before a big meeting, but do drink it if you're at home and stressed!
Lemon GRASS Tea (NOT BALM)
Origin: Thailand
Availability: Some major chains, do NOT BUY lemon BALM, you want lemon GRASS
Review: Great tasting tea, fairly easy to MISTAKENLY buy Lemon BALM tea which will NOT work, LEMON GRASS does works- 2 glasses down, taste yummy and feeling at ease.
Kava Kava Tea ***DO NOT TRY KAVA KAVA IN TEA/PILL OR ANY FORM IF YOU HAVE LIVER PROBLEMS***
Origin: Hawaii
Availability: Yogi's Kava Kava Tea is Available online and at SOME major grocery stores, other then that you must go to a "tea" store or buy online, you can get it in pill form but it doesn't work for me.
Review: I bought "YOGI'S Kava Kava Tea," it's a good tasting tea if you enjoy "natural" foods, think earthy tea, it has a distinct dirt/earth tincture to the flavor, but it is good at the same time. 4-5 glasses YOU WILL BE EUPHORIC (and ready for a NAP)!!! Seriously, this is like a cup of HAPPY, but not until you drink 3-4 glasses BACK to BACK, chug!
Ailment: Flu/Throwing Up/Cold
Echinacea Tea
Origin: Great Planes Indian Tribes of North America
Availability: Most major chain grocery stores
Review: Works like a magical star sent from the heavens when you can't stop throwing up and are cowering in the fetal position. Oh wise Native American's how very smart you are. One cup might just come back up, unless you're battling a cold, then it'll stay down, I drank 3 cups in an hour and finally stopped throwing up. I've not tried it for the following ailments but according to "WebMD" the website, it can also be used for herpes, strep, U.T.I.'s and even yeast infections! A cure-all! (:
Ailment: Cold/Congestion
In addition to Echinacea, I've also tried Elderberry Tea
Elderberry Tea
Origin: Europe (U.K. VASTLY)
Availability: Most major chain grocery stores.
Review: Taste delicious, I tried two cups, one cup of tea bag tea and one cup of blend tea, after two cups noticeable decrease to congestion. Did I mention it's yummy!
Ailment: Migraine/Headache
Ginger Tea
Origin: China
Availability: Grocery stores, if they don't have the tea, buy the root and BOIL IT, make the tea yourself.
Review: Works instantly, like a skull massage in the midst of misery, it's effect is felt within 5 minutes of finishing a SINGLE cup. The taste is ginger, that's good or bad and depends on you, surely, you'll know if you like that taste or not! I do, yum.
Ailment: Insomnia/Can't stay asleep
Valerian Root Tea
Availability: Your nearest BIG grocery store-the one with the biggest selection.
Review: Not the best taste, after 3 cups I was ready to crash and did, for 6 hours straight! That's a LOT for me!
Ailment: Castro-Instestinal Issues
Chamomile Tea
Availability: Pretty much ANY grocery store
Review: Taste good, help to relieve tummy/abdomen upset, drank 2-3 cups, lessened abdominal cramps.
Well, th-th-tha-that's all folks! Remember to consult with your Doctor before trying anything that I personally try or use when I'm sick or in need of herbal remedies.
