It is my intention to create a forum to discuss the use of the Norse Runes, specifically those found in the Elder Futhark, as divination tools for use today. The history of the Elder Futhark may be traced back as far as 800 BCE. There is little doubt as to the importance of this runic alphabet to the Norse civilization and to their proto-Germanic predecessors. I make no claims of expert knowledge regarding the Viking era, the culture or religious beliefs of that period. I am still learning and will always be a student of spirituality in its many forms.
As with any divination tool or practice there are bound to be changes in use over the many centuries that pass from the point of origin to current use. The Runes, for me, have been no different. I was first introduced to the Runes around 1996 when I consciously began my spiritual path. I first studied American Indian Shamanism, Celtic Shamanism and the Druidic belief systems which managed to lead me to the Runes. I felt an immediate resonance with the Runes. I understood their use and meaning in a way that felt perfectly natural to me. Thus began an 18 year journey that has led me here, to this place on my path; it is perfect.
In all this time I have never once had even a single person tell me the reading they received was off-base or in error. This never ceases to amaze me. I have given Rune readings that brought tears, made people angry or uncomfortable, produced laughter and relief, but never by the end of a reading has someone stated they didn't know of what the Runes spoke. The Runes are always honest and straight to the point.Over the years I have created what I call the Life Path reading. I use the Runes to describe where a person stands on their spiritual journey, the challenges they face moving forward and the actions to take in regard to those challenges. In addition we are able to discover what the cost of growth will be and where their journey is taking them. Without question this is the most common reading I am asked to provide. The Runes may be used for far simpler divination as well, even a simple 'thought for the Day' pull of a single Rune has value.
As this blog matures I will be bringing up new knowledge as I am led to it and looking forward to the conversations that will emerge. In fact, I will be pulling a Rune every day and posting here to provide a focus with which to start my day and to spark a conversation with whoever wishes. If you have a specific question regarding the Runes please feel free to ask and I will start a new post so we may discuss your question. Of course please feel free to contact me through Keen.com to get your own reading, I'm always happy to help.
