On The Passing of Sylvia Browne....

She was one of the first psychic mediums to make it to the mainstream. I was a huge fan in the beginning. I had always believed in the "supernatural" and the "spiritual" so to speak so she was like a breath of fresh air. When I embarked on my spiritual journey, I relished all of her books and audiotapes. I wanted to know everything there was to know about this remarkable woman and her journey. I enjoyed her sense of humor.

But however, there seemed to be a darker side. Healthy skepticism turned into fierce debate over whether she was the real deal. I was even more disappointed when she was convicted of fraud and had to do hours of community service.

Bad prediction after bad prediction that came one after the other but her popularity never waned with her true fans. Her good friend Montel Williams had on his show once a week for many years contributing to her notoriety.

Then others joined the scene like James Van Praagh and Allison DuBois who were really good at what they did in spreading the message about spirituality and psychic awareness. Despite some of the questionable happenings in her life, I do credit Mrs. Browne with bringing spirituality to the mainstream. She was truly a pioneer whether you agreed with her or not.
