We've heard all the little cliches, lid for every pot, two halves make a whole, there's someone for everyone, blah...blah...blah... For all these old wives tale promises there's a heck of a lot of us still out here looking! So what can you do about that?
Well, for one just forget about the past. That seems to be the number one wall standing between you and your future. It's super easy to keep tripping when you're looking backward instead of facing forward. Your new and best love is in front of you! Forget that the last person you surrendered your heart to ground it up with a manual eggbeater. True love is a caress.
Second, if you want to meet someone different then you need to fish in a different pond. Whether we easily see it or not most of our previous unsuccessful relationships have a similar thread running through them that ties them all together. Find that commonality and then let that be a red flag in anyone new you consider. It hasn't worked yet so why keep trying to force it to fit? True love is a well fitted shoe that doesn't require band aids or thick socks.
Next, if you keep meeting the same kind of people then go to a different beach! Sometimes the circles we frequent are too familiar and/or too small. Try something different. Go to a different coffee shop or club. Join a club. Take up a hobby that you know attracts the kind of person you are looking for. Love is common; true love is rare.
My last bit of advice? Open yourself to new experiences. Say yes when you'd normally say no and no when you'd normally say yes. Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. He was the smartest person that ever lived. True love is daring!
Take a risk. Take a chance. Make a change.
