Fearing the predictable worst

I spent most of the Labor Day weekend volunteering at the Gentlemen of the Road stopover tour/festival in my area. (Mumford and Sons for any of you who follow this British sensation.)

I was rewarded with a fun weekend full of good music, new friends, and a lot of joy. I managed to sneak a few minutes away during the final songs of the headlining band and immersed myself in the center of the 40K plus people who were there.

The energy was electrifying. The songs were of love and peace and hope. The artists were having a good time, the crowd was having a good time, there was love every where that you looked.

The point is, that it was an awesomely abundant blessing for the community.

There were many naysayers raising their objections and predicted worsts prior to the event. Fear hatched rumors of gangs that follow these concerts and break in to the stores and overcrowd the local businesses, taking advantage of a city that might be maxed to capacity. Fears of drunk people causing chaos and destruction of property on the neighboring homes.

But the balance of love that was felt and followed outweighed the balance of fear, so only good could become of the event. Only good can become of love.

Each of us hold the power to perceive what we see. Stop spending so much time looking at / for the predictable worsts, and take heed from the wise Beatles .... All you need is love.
