A few years ago, I was writing to a friend and, as I often do, made a typo. I was talking about the day I bought my car and how I drove away in my old vehicle and four hours later the new car was "sparked" in front of my house. My friend wrote back and asked if I could "spark" a new car into his driveway, too. :) This made me think. We always hear about manifesting what we want into our lives through positive affirmations, prayer, meditations, etc. - but what do we do to spark these wishes into life?
I have thought long and hard on this matter for the past month and have come to the conclusion that the old Bible saying "Faith without works is dead." (James 2:20) is 100% on track. It's not enough to put our intentions out into the universe. All the positive affirmations in the world can only do so much to help us on our way. We have to provide the spark that breathes life into our wishes.
So, taking all of this into consideration, I decided to apply this principle to what I felt to be a serious issue in my life situation. My closest real life friend was moving closer to her work, and would be living an hour away from me. This has made me very sad because we've been friends for almost 20 years and we usually get together at least once a week for breakfast or lunch. Obviously, I needed to manifest a new friend or two to help fill the void, so made the decision to view the loss of my friend's company as a kick in the pants from the Universe to get out and meet new people. But how? And where?
Then I went to the farmers market and saw a booth full of beautiful pottery, like the piece above. I felt inspired to look up the artist's website and found that he is part of a pottery cooperative, and that they offer courses in making pottery. How perfect was that? I could learn to something new, make beautiful objects, and hopefully, find a new friend or two.
So I signed up for classes, and I'm very excited. Even more so because of a very wonderful and unexpected side benefit. I believe the Universe heard my affirmations, accepted the spark I provided by taking positive action to solve my problem, and rewarded me beyond anything I could have imagined. My dear friend, the one who moved away, has also decided to sign up for the same class and will be driving up every weekend to attend. Isn't that amazing? Not only do my friend and I both have the opportunity to create beauty and meet new people, but we also get to hang out together every Saturday afternoon. I hope I never forget this particular lesson and always work hard to provide the spark that will turn my dreams into reality. And I hope this is helpful to you, too.
Blessings, Robyn
