The Hierophant is about following the rules and/or doing the right thing (a very conventional and traditional card). In every culture there is the standard and the right ways to do things that we feel subjected to adhere to. But we battle with becoming too stuck into the conventional because then we might not be living our best life possible. It is ok to play by the rules, but sometimes those rules can become restricting. So, it is up for you to decide which is best. It may be best to follow the rules and not rock the boat, or not.
If you are feeling confused about a situation, you should talk to someone who is knowledgeable and has wisdom. This card can also mean that you might need to seek out good advice (which is usually conventional and the standard) from another person. Or, you may find that people want to come to you for advice, as they feel you are wise and easy for them to talk to. Your journey through life has given you wisdom and knowledge, which you can teach and share with others.
Nonetheless, this is a time where we might need to sacrifice our individuality and have more of the "group think" mentality. The most common is, "one must get a good job, buy a home, get married, then have children, etc." And when they are not doing this, they might feel rejected from the group. It is ok to conform--and be apart. But, you will still be challenged with finding ways to live your true authentic self, and to live your truth while still remaining a member of a particular group.
